About Us

HR Policy

We do not discriminate in our employment policies and are particularly keen to include individuals of all ages, genders and orientations in our team. We aim to provide a stimulating working environment that encourages self-expression and personal growth.

All our staff are helpful and polite and open-minded in attitude. We also provide training opportunities and encourage development and active participation in all aspects of Coffee, Cake & Kink's business.

We trust our team, and our working practice reflects this. Flexi-working is freedom, and freedom we love - all CCK staff, ever, have been able to set their own work days and time, both at the cafe and in the office. A mixture of office and home-working is a standard for all intens and backend staff.

Just like we strive to improve ourselves and the world around us, we expect you to learn and develop when you are with us. Coffee, Cake & Kink has got a learning culture and we reward personal development of our staff. All systems and processes have been designed to benefit both parties. Even those whom we don't invite to join our team can benefit from it, the interview and, above all, thorough one-to-one feedback.

Despite all the chill - and because of it - we have some ground rules on which we will not budge. We do not, and will not, tolerate:

• Violations of Health & Safety regulations: one of the first things you will learn is how to keep yourself and the customers safe.

• Violations of the law: open-minded as we are, our tolerance does not extend to things illegal. It is highly unlikely that you should ever come across sexualities taken to extremes, however, you will need to be able to deal with that.

• Discrimination and especially sexual discrimination: Coffee, Cake & Kink prides itself on tolerance and celebration of sexuality and our staff includes gay, lesbian, transgender, trans- and bi-sexual people, many of whom come with their own kinks. This is a great opportunity to find out about lifestyles different from yours, ask questions and learn about life. We are very protective of this diversity and will not tolerate any signs of homophobia or any other form of discrimination. If working alongside all kinds of people does not agree with you, you do not need to read any further and may want to start looking elsewhere for a more appropriate placement / position.

• Abuse in any shape or form: we will not tolerate any abusive behaviour among customers or towards our staff. Just because we like the idea of kink and/or love, it does not mean one has got the right to force upon others their views, interests and lifestyle. Likewise, nobody should assume any member of staff are willing to share personal details about themselves just because they work with us. Somebody dropping unwelcome hits, or asking uncomfortable questions about somebody else's sex life, can be considered abusive and all staff are trained how to deal with that, with humour, charm or, if need be, otherwise.

• Prejudice and lack of professionalism: finding goods/choosing personal gifts at Coffee, Cake & Kink is more than customer service. Asking for your opinion and assistance customers open themselves up more than they would otherwise. While this comes with its own set of problems (see above), it also commands respect. All team need to be sensitive and careful when passing judgement and/or expressing opinions, especially if somebody else's kinks do not correspond to your own. Nothing less than a calm, professional attitude will do.
