about-us

Sometimes called a "fusion café", Coffee, Cake & Kink is where coffee, cake and naughtiness combine.

Originally a combination of a cafe, bookshop and erotic art gallery, we opened our doors in London's Covent Garden in 2003 and have been serving a lively community the alternative, the funky and the open-minded since. After the closure of the original cafe premises in 2008, we have continued our friendly personal approach and dedication to service in our webshop, and have evolved into a fully fledged social enterprise.

Coffee, Cake & Kink: The Second Decade

With CCK2 about to launch on the high street, we announce a new directon for Coffee, Cake & Kink and our priorties as of 2014/2015.

We will continue to keep our eyes open for possible kinky cafe premises, should one materialise.

This is how we go forward

Where We Are

A tricky question, that one!

For the first five years of CCK's life (2003-2008), we had physical premises cosily snugged in a little side street in London's Covent Garden, the area famed for its arts, theatre and carnal pursuits.

After the closure of the orignal cafe and store, we have run CCK as a social enterprise. From 2009 to date, we have participarted and run various training programmes, been online and met you face-to-face through CCK Socials events and office parties.

We have hoped to re-open in Central London by now, however, our search for new premises has been a sobering reminder just how much prejudice there still is... which has only served to make us more determined in our work. Still looking for the place for the freedom to rule, still need to hear if you know of one.

Who We Are

Coffee, Cake & Kink bridges the gap between those identifying themseves as "kinky/alternative" and the mainstream society. While supporting the so-called "scene", we work with the goverment (DWP, JCP) and respected mainstream and art institutions (charities, The Barbican).

We believe that a broad spectrum of human sexuality consists of a great many consensual adult behaviours, too few of which are embraced and celebrated by the society.  We believe that we all have the right to enjoy our bodies and sexualities without guilt, fear of persecution or the attachment of social stigmas. We credit people with intelligence to make their own lifestyle choices. We wish to push perceptions but not shock, challenge stereotypes but not offend.

  • People

peopleWith 85 staff to date, several interns and countless volunteers, we truly believe in our people and, more often than not, they believe in us. We pride ourselves on a diverse working environment, and everyone is encouraged to express their personality, interests and quirks. Some of the team like their suits, some work wearing their kitty ears and tail; tattoos, piercings and more are all fine. What we all have in common is a shared vision of an open-minded world and all-inclusive society, and a willingness to work tiredlessly towards it.
